Knowledge Rich Indian Grassroot

I have associated myself with National Innovation Foundation on a completely honorary basis due to the one man Prof Anil Gupta ( http://www.iimahd.ernet.in/~anilg/ ) . He is a gem of a man who has devoted his life to helping bring a smile on the knowledge rich but monetarily poor Indians living in the heartland. Through his honeybee network ( http://www.sristi.org, http://www.gian.org , http://www.nifindia.org , http://www.indiainnovates.com ) he promotes innovation at the grassroots and also helps preserving the traditional Indian knowledge to benefit these innovators, individuals, their communities, Our country and the world at large. With a dedicated and competent team of a very few special people, he works on shoestring budgets with some Government support to convert these innovations and practices to market successes. They have over 60,000 innovations and practices but only about 100 patented in India and 4 in the US. I have spent 3-4 days with the innovators and am amazed at the brilliance of these, sometimes less formally educated minds. Life has a new meaning now. i hope I can help some of these innovations to become market successes.

I can not express my thanks in words to Prof Anil Gupta for bringing this new phase in my life. Power to the Prof and his tribe.

The people who are ruling our R&D esteblisments dont understand the problems we, the grassroot inventors, face.Whenever we approch them with new ideas they thurst some forms in to our face and order to fill them.Filling of these forms is next to impossible to semi educated grassroot inventors. These officiales never bother about the inventions, they think of only rules and regulations.I have many ideas which will help people of our country. But no one cares. If they prove that my ideas are foolish, I will be happy. But they are not doing even that. They remain just dumb and def.I feel sorry for my country.

Some how i hav always felt that real India will awaken only when the rural poor is empowered...and this wont happen bcoz of "X" number of govt policies made specifically for the purpose...this will be done wen we harness the traditional knowledge that people of this country possess...
